1. The Udayanīya (-offering) is similar to the Prayaṇīyā (-offering).¹

2. One cooks the rice-pap in the same (sthālī-pot) (which was used in the Prayaṇīya) and from which the scrappings have not been removed.¹ That (very) sacrificial grass (and) that (very) stapula (Mekṣaṇa) (should be used in this offering).²

3. They perform (this offering) in the Śālāmukhīya(-fire).

4. (The Adhvaryu) offers ghee-portions in the same parts (of the fire)—first to Agni and the last to Pathyā svasti.¹

5. It has been said in a Brāhmaṇa-text: “Those verses which have been used as the offering-verses for the Prāyaṇīyā…."¹

6. He seizes a sterile cow as Anūbandhyā for Mitra and Varuṇa.¹

7. The procedure (of this ritual should be) similar to that of the Nirūḍhapaśubandha.¹

8. The orders (to be given to Maitrāvaruņa are): “Do you recite the invitatory verses in connetion with the fat of the omentum for Mitrā and Varuṇa” (and) “Do you order (the Hotr̥ to recite the offering verse) in connection with the fat of the omentum for Mitra and Varuṇa…”¹

9. In the same manner he modifies the two ends (of the orders) with the word haviṣaḥ at the time of the portions (of the limbs of the victim).¹

10. In the opinion of some ritualists¹ there should be three Ahübandhyā (cow)s.

11. (The three Anūbandhyā-cows are to be offered) to Mitrā-varuṇa, Viśvedevas and to Br̥haspati respectively.

12. The (cow) for Mitrāvaruṇa (should be) tawo-coloured; the one for Viśvedevas multicoloured; (and) the one for Br̥haspati red-coloured.

13. They perform (the sacrifice of the Anūbandhyā) to Viśvedevas in between¹ and inaudibly.²

14. Or one should not seize these (three Anūbandhyā cows) in all (the Soma-sacrifices) (but only) in the Vājapeya, Rājasūya and a sacrificial session or a sacrifice (in which one thousand cows) (are given as gifts) or a sacrifice in which all the wealth (is given as gift).¹

15. He who desires “May all my sacrifice be full of sap" should seize these three Anūbandhyā (-cows).¹

16. After the omentum of the Anūbandhyā is offered, the sacrificer causes his hair and beard be shaved on the southern end of the altar.

17. After the material for the sacrificial bread connected with the animal-sacrifice has been poured out,¹
