सुकीर्तिं शंसति देवयोनिर्वै सुकीर्तिस्तद्यज्ञाद्देवयोन्यै यजमानम्प्रजनयति ।

(The Sukîrti and Vṛiṣâkapi hymns repeated by the Brāhmaṇāchchhaṁsī.)

The Brāhmaṇāchchhaṁsi repeats the Sukîrti hymn;[7] for the Sukîrti is the womb of the gods. He thus causes the sacrificer to be born out of the sacrifice, which is the womb of the gods.

[7]This is the hymn, apa prâcha (10, 131). It is repeated by the Brâhmaṇachchhaṁsi.

सुकीर्तिं शंसति देवयोनिर्वै सुकीर्तिस्तद्यज्ञाद्देवयोन्यै यजमानम्प्रजनयति ।

वृषाकपिं शंसत्यात्मा वै वृषाकपिरात्मानमेवास्य तत्कल्पयति ।

He repeats the Vṛiṣâkapi hymn.[8] For Vṛiṣâkapi is the soul. In this way he makes the soul of the sacrificer.

वृषाकपिं शंसत्यात्मा वै वृषाकपिरात्मानमेवास्य तत्कल्पयति ।

तं न्यूङ्खयत्यन्नं वै न्यूङ्खस्तदस्मै जातायान्नाद्यम्प्रतिदधाति यथा कुमाराय स्तनम् ।

He repeats it with Nyûñkha.[9] The Nyûñkha is food. In this way he provides him when born with food, just as (a mother) gives the breast to her child.

[9]This Nyûñkha differs somewhat from the usual way of making it. The sound is uttered sixteen times, three times with three moras, and thirteen times with half moras. See Aśval, Sr. S. 8, 3.

तं न्यूङ्खयत्यन्नं वै न्यूङ्खस्तदस्मै जातायान्नाद्यम्प्रतिदधाति यथा कुमाराय स्तनम् ।

स पाङ्क्तो भवति पाङ्क्तो ऽयम्पुरुषः पञ्चधा विहितो लोमानि त्वङ्मांसमस्थि मज्जा ।

That hymn is in the Paṅkti i.e. (five-hood) metre; for man consists of five parts, viz. hair, skin, flesh, bones and marrow.

स पाङ्क्तो भवति पाङ्क्तो ऽयम्पुरुषः पञ्चधा विहितो लोमानि त्वङ्मांसमस्थि मज्जा ।

स यावानेव पुरुषस्तावन्तं यजमानः संस्करोति ।

He prepares the sacrificer just in the same way, as man (in general) is prepared.

स यावानेव पुरुषस्तावन्तं यजमानः संस्करोति ।

तम्ब्राह्मणाच्छंसी जनयित्वाछावाकाय सम्प्रयच्छत्येतस्य त्वम्प्रतिष्ठां कल्पयेति ।

The Brāhmaṇāchchhaṁsī, after having created the sacrificer, hands him over to the Achchhāvaka, saying, “make a footing for him.”

तम्ब्राह्मणाच्छंसी जनयित्वाछावाकाय सम्प्रयच्छत्येतस्य त्वम्प्रतिष्ठां कल्पयेति ।
