देवासुरा वा एषु लोकेषु समयतन्त ।

The Devâs and Asuras waged war in these worlds.

देवासुरा वा एषु लोकेषु समयतन्त ।
विश्वास-प्रस्तुतिः
ते वै देवाः षष्ठेनैवाह्नैभ्यो लोकेभ्यो ऽसुरान्प्राणुदन्त ।

The Devas turned the Asuras by means of the sixth day’s ceremonies out of these worlds.
मूलम्
ते वै देवाः षष्ठेनैवाह्नैभ्यो लोकेभ्यो ऽसुरान्प्राणुदन्त ।
विश्वास-प्रस्तुतिः
तेषां यान्यन्तर्हस्तीनानि वसून्यासंस्तान्यादाय समुद्रं प्रौप्यन्त ।

The Asuras seized all things which they could grasp, took them and threw them into the sea.

तेषां यान्यन्तर्हस्तीनानि वसून्यासंस्तान्यादाय समुद्रं प्रौप्यन्त ।

त एतेनैव च्छन्दसा ऽनुहायान्तर्हस्तीनानि वसून्याददत ।

The Devas following them behind[10] seized by means of this metre (of the Paruchhepa verses which have seven padas) all they (the Asuras) had grasped.

त एतेनैव च्छन्दसा ऽनुहायान्तर्हस्तीनानि वसून्याददत ।
विश्वास-प्रस्तुतिः
तद्यदेतत्पदं पुनःपदं स एवाङ्कुश आसञ्जनाय ।

Just this pada, viz., the additional pada (the seventh in the Paruchhepa verses) became a hook for the purpose of gathering the treasures (thrown into the sea by the Asuras).

तद्यदेतत्पदं पुनःपदं स एवाङ्कुश आसञ्जनाय ।
विश्वास-प्रस्तुतिः
आ द्विषतो वसु दत्ते निरेनमेभ्यः सर्वेभ्यो लोकेभ्यो नुदते य एवं वेद ।
Haug
Therefore he who has this knowledge, deprives his enemy of his fortune and turns him out of all these worlds.
