पारुच्छेपीरुपदधति पूर्वयोः सवनयोः पुरस्तात्प्रस्थितयाज्यानाम् ।

(On the Nature and Meaning of the Paruchhepa Verses.)
They place at the two first libations a Paruchhepa verse (one seen by the Riṣi Paruchhepa) before each of the Yâjyâs, which are repeated by the seven Hotars in their order (the so-called prasthitas).[9]

[9]Previous to the recital of every Yâjyâ, one of the Paruchhepa verses is to be repeated. These are, vṛiṣann indra vṛiṣa pânâsa indavaḥ (1, 139, 6-11) and pibâ somam indra suvânam (1, 130, 2-10).

पारुच्छेपीरुपदधति पूर्वयोः सवनयोः पुरस्तात्प्रस्थितयाज्यानाम् ।

रोहितं वै नामैतच्छन्दो यत्पारुच्छेपम् ।

The name of their metre is Rohita.

एतेन वा इन्द्रः सप्त स्वर्गाँल्लोकानरोहत् ।

By means of it Indra ascended the seven heavens.

रोहति सप्त स्वर्गाँल्लोकन्य एवं वेद ।

Thus he who has this knowledge ascends the seven heavens.

तदाहुर्यत्पञ्चपदा एव पञ्चमस्याह्नो रूपं षट्पदाः षष्ठस्याथ कस्मात्सप्तपदाः षष्ठे ऽहञ्छस्यन्त इति ।

They say, Verses which consist of five padas (steps) are a characteristic of the fifth day, and such ones as consist of six padas are fit for the sixth day, why then are metres of seven padas (as the Rohita is) recited on the sixth day ?
मूलम्
तदाहुर्यत्पञ्चपदा एव पञ्चमस्याह्नो रूपं षट्पदाः षष्ठस्याथ कस्मात्सप्तपदाः षष्ठे ऽहञ्छस्यन्त इति ।
विश्वास-प्रस्तुतिः
षड्भिरेव पदैः षष्ठमहराप्नुवन्त्यपच्छिद्येवैतदहर्यत्सप्तमं तदेव सप्तमेन पदेनाभ्यारभ्य वसन्ति ।

(The reason is) By six steps the sixth day is reached; but by cutting off, as it were, the seventh day (by taking it single) they settle with the seventh step down (in heaven after having reached it by six).

षड्भिरेव पदैः षष्ठमहराप्नुवन्त्यपच्छिद्येवैतदहर्यत्सप्तमं तदेव सप्तमेन पदेनाभ्यारभ्य वसन्ति ।

वाचमेव तत्पुनरुपयन्ति संतत्यै ।

Thus they regain the Vâch for the connection (of the whole).

वाचमेव तत्पुनरुपयन्ति संतत्यै ।

संततैस्त्र्यहैरव्यवच्छिन्नैर्यन्ति य एवं विद्वांसो यन्ति ।

Those who are possessed of such a knowledge have the three days connected and unbroken.
