72. For the favor of the gods.

परमात्मा।
१ भृग्वङ्गिराः ब्रह्मा। परमात्मा देवाश्च। त्रिष्टुप्।

It is given in full* in the Kāuś. text (139. 26), at the end of the ceremony of commencement of Vedic study; ⌊and the pratīka is cited at 139. 25;⌋ and the scholiasts add its use at the end of the parvan ceremonies (Keś. to section 6; p. 310, l. 5), and of the piṇḍapitṛyajña (Keś. to 89. 17; p. 371, l. 12), and to the snānavrata (note to 42. 18). *⌊As to the citation in sakalapāṭha, cf. p. 897, ¶3.⌋

A sacrificial formula

Translation

1. Out of what receptacle we bore up the Veda, within that do we set it
   down; what is performed [and] sacrificed by the heroic might of the
   bráhman, with that fervor, O gods, favor ye me here.

Notes

Some of the mss. accent variously abharāma and vedam; ⌊Griffith
renders by ‘bunch of grass,’ again (as at 68. 1) implying the accent
vedám: but this accent is given only by SPP’s S^(m).;⌋ two or three of
SPP’s have ṛtám instead of kṛtám in c; the version in Kāuś. 139.
26 gives in place of either adhītam. Ppp. reads in a, b udbharāmi
veda tasminn antar va dudhmay enam.

⌊Here ends the seventh and last anuvāka, with 18 hymns (or 14 or 13:
see introd. to hymn 60, above); and with 55 verses, if we count them as
they are numbered in the Berlin text. They are summed up as 55 verses by
certain mss.—No mention of the ending of a prapāṭhaka is made in the
colophon.⌋

Within the chest whence we before extracted the bunch of grass, this do we now deposit. Wrought is the sacrifice by power of Brahma. Through this assist me here, ye God, with Fervour.

वैदिक कर्म करने का उपदेश।

पदार्थान्वयभाषाः - (यस्मात्) जिस (कोशात्) कोश [निधि स्थान परमात्मा] से (वेदम्) वे [ऋग्वेद आदि] को (उदभराम) हमने ऊँचा धरा है, (तस्मिन् अन्तः) उस परमात्मा के भीतर (एनम्) इस [जीवात्मा] को (अव) निश्चय करके (दध्मः) हम धरते हैं। (ब्रह्मणा) [जिस] ब्रह्म [परमात्मा] के (वीर्येण) सामर्थ्य से (इष्टम्) इष्ट कर्म (कृतम्) किया जाता हैं (तेन) उस [परमात्मा] के साथ, (देवाः) हे विद्वानो ! (तपसा) तप द्वारा (मा) मुझको (इह) यहाँ पर (अवत) बचाओ ॥१॥

भावार्थभाषाः - जिस परमात्मा के अनन्त भण्डार से वेदरत्न को हमने पाया है, उसी परमात्मा का आश्रय लेकर विद्वानों के सत्सङ्ग और सहाय से तप करते हुए अपनी रक्षा करके हम आनन्द भोगें ॥१॥ इति सप्तमोऽनुवाकः ॥इति पञ्चत्रिंशः प्रपाठकः ॥ इति श्रीमद्राजाधिराजप्रथितमहागुणमहिमश्रीसयाजीरावगायकवाड़ाधिष्ठितबड़ोदेपुरीगतश्रावणमास- दक्षिणापरीक्षायाम् ऋक्सामाथर्ववेदभाष्येषु लब्धदक्षिणेन श्रीपण्डितक्षेमकरणदासत्रिवेदिना कृते अथर्ववेदभाष्ये एकोनविंशं काण्डं समाप्तम् ॥इत्येकोनविंशं काण्डम् ॥
