3.4.10 तद्भूताधिकरणम् The prima facie view is : those who have fallen from the stage of the celibate or of the ascetic are competent to pursue meditation on the basis of the utterance of mantra-s, fasting, etc. This is wrong. Although the स्मृति text proclaims that there is expiation for those who have lapsed from the state of a celibate or an ascetic, yet, virtuous persons shun the company of the fallen one.
