साधारणत्वात् गृहमेधिनां च प्रव्राजिवत् सा तु तदङ्गहीना ।
नैवं तु यज्ञादिक वाक्यभावात् सर्वत्र च स्वाश्रमधर्मवत्त्वात् ॥ 58 ॥

3.4.5 सर्वापेक्षाधिकरणम् If meditation without any reference to sacrificial rites could lead to immortality in the case of ascetics then the same must hold good in the case of house - holders too. This view is wrong. In the case of house - holders meditation stands in need of all obligatory and occasioned rites on the strength of the उपनिषदिc text ‘men of spiritual birth desire to know Him by the study of the Veda, by sacrifice, by gifts. .
