क्वचित् सत् क्वाप्यात्मा क्वचित् असदपि क्वापि पुरुषः क्वचित् ब्रह्मेत्येवं

1.4.4 कारणत्वाधिकरणम् The contention that there can be no ascertainment in regard to the nature of the cause of the world as in the उपनिषदिc texts the latter is referred to variously as sat, आत्मन् asat, Brahman and पुरुष does not hold good because everywhere in the उपनिषद्-s, Supreme Brahman is alluded as the cause of the world on the basis of the conventional sense of words, context and the qualities that are apt in the case of Brahman only.
