1.3.10 अर्थान्तरत्वादिव्यपदेशाधिकरणम्
धूत्वेति वाक्ये प्रकृतस्तु पूर्वम् आकाशतां ऋच्छतु मुक्त एव ।
एतन्न हि प्राणिति नामरूप निर्वाहकौ नैव हि बद्धमुक्तौ ॥ 38 ॥

1.3.10 अर्थान्तरत्वादिव्यपदेशाधिकरणम् The contention that the word आकाश in the छान्दोग्य text ’that which is called आकाश is the revealer of the names and forms’ (VIII.xiv.1) stands for the liberated soul who is referred to earlier in the same text (छान्द् Up., VIII.xiii.1) is wrong because neither the soul in bondage nor in liberation is capable of distinguishing the world into names and forms. (Hence the word आकाश refers to Supreme Brahman).
