आनन्दरूप भगवन्नयि तेऽवतारे
प्राप्ते प्रदीप्तभवदङ्ग निरीयमाणैः ।
कान्तिव्रजैरिव घनाघनमण्डलैर्द्या
मावृण्वती विरुरुचे किल वर्षवेला ॥ ३८१॥

आनन्दरूप भगवन्नयि तेऽवतारे
प्राप्ते प्रदीप्तभवदङ्ग निरीयमाणैः ।
कान्तिव्रजैरिव घनाघनमण्डलैर्द्या
मावृण्वती विरुरुचे किल वर्षवेला ॥ ३८१॥

Oh Lord of Absolute Bliss ! When Thy hour of incarnation approached, it was the rainy season, with dark clouds covering the sky. The rays of light emanating from Thy divine, dark blue form, seemed to light up the entire atmosphere.

आशासु शीतलतरासु पयोदतोयै
राशासिताप्तिविवशेषु च सज्जनेषु ।
नैशाकरोदयविधौ निशि मध्यमायां
क्लेशापहस्त्रिजगतां त्वमिहाऽविरासीः ॥ ३८२॥

आशासु शीतलतरासु पयोदतोयै
राशासिताप्तिविवशेषु च सज्जनेषु ।
नैशाकरोदयविधौ निशि मध्यमायां
क्लेशापहस्त्रिजगतां त्वमिहाऽविरासीः ॥ ३८२॥

Oh Lord ! Healer of the distress of three worlds ! The rainwater pouring from the clouds cooled the earth in all directions and the good and virtuous souls were happy with the fulfilment of their wishes, when Thou wert born here on earth, at midnight, with the moon just rising.

बाल्यसृशापि वपुषा दधुषा विभूती
रुद्यत्किरीटकटकाङ्गदहारभासा ।
शङ्खारिवारिजगदापरिभासितेन
मेघासितेन परिलेसिथ सूतिगेहे ॥ ३८३॥

बाल्यसृशापि वपुषा दधुषा विभूती

शङ्खारिवारिजगदापरिभासितेन
मेघासितेन परिलेसिथ सूतिगेहे ॥ ३८३॥

Though Thou wert in the form of an infant in the room where Thy birth took place, Thou, by Thy divine powers, radiated the resplendent form of Vishnu, adorned with the dazzling crown, bangles, shoulder ornaments, bracelets, pearl necklaces and the like along with the shining conch, disc, lotus and mace in Thy arms and Thy compiexion of dark blue, like that of a rain-cloud.

वक्षःस्थलीसुखनिलानविलासिलक्ष्मी
मन्दाक्षलक्षितकटाक्षविमोक्षभेदैः ।
तन्मन्दिरस्य खलकंसकृतामलक्ष्मी
मुन्मार्जयन्निव विरेजिथ वासुदेव ॥ ३८४॥

वक्षःस्थलीसुखनिलानविलासिलक्ष्मी
मन्दाक्षलक्षितकटाक्षविमोक्षभेदैः ।
तन्मन्दिरस्य खलकंसकृतामलक्ष्मी
मुन्मार्जयन्निव विरेजिथ वासुदेव ॥ ३८४॥

Oh Vaasudeva ! The inauspicious atmosphere of the house, brought about by the wicked Kamsa, seemed to have been swept away by the shy sidelong glances of Goddess Lakshmi, resting happily on Thy breast, with her eyes half open and Thou shone with that brilliant lustre.

शौरिस्तु धीरमुनिमण्डलचेतसोऽपि
दूरस्थितं वपुरुदीक्ष्य निजेक्षणाभ्याम् ।
आनन्दबष्पपुलकोद्गमगद्गदार्द्र
स्तुष्टाव दृष्टिमकरन्दरसं भवन्तम् ॥ ३८५॥

शौरिस्तु धीरमुनिमण्डलचेतसोऽपि
दूरस्थितं वपुरुदीक्ष्य निजेक्षणाभ्याम् ।
आनन्दबष्पपुलकोद्गमगद्गदार्द्र
स्तुष्टाव दृष्टिमकरन्दरसं भवन्तम् ॥ ३८५॥

Thy divine form which is unattainable even to the minds of self-controlled, great sages, was revealed to Souri (Thy father, Vasudeva), and he, overwhelmed by tears of joy, his whole body thrilled by the sight of Thee, his voice choking with emotion, praised Thee who looked like the nectar of flowers.

देव प्रसीद परपूरुष तापवल्ली
निर्लूनदात्र समनेत्र कलाविलासिन् ।
खेदानपाकुरु कृपागुरुभिः कटाक्षैर्
इत्यादि तेन मुदितेन चिरं नुतोऽभूः ॥ ३८६॥

देव प्रसीद परपूरुष तापवल्ली
निर्लूनदात्र समनेत्र कलाविलासिन् ।
खेदानपाकुरु कृपागुरुभिः कटाक्षैर्
इत्यादि तेन मुदितेन चिरं नुतोऽभूः ॥ ३८६॥

Vasudeva praised Thee for a long time thus: “Oh Lord of Supreme Spirit ! Thou art the knife that cuts the root of sorrow; Thou art partial to none; Thou shines with the glory of Thy Maya; May Thou remove my sorrows with Thy compassionate glances.”

मात्रा च नेत्रसलिलास्तृतगात्रवल्ल्या
स्तोत्रैरभिष्टुतगुणः करुणालयस्त्वम् ।
प्राचीनजन्मयुगलं प्रतिबोध्य ताभ्यां
मातुर्गिरा दधिथ मानुषबालवेषम् ॥ ३८७॥

मात्रा च नेत्रसलिलास्तृतगात्रवल्ल्या
स्तोत्रैरभिष्टुतगुणः करुणालयस्त्वम् ।
प्राचीनजन्मयुगलं प्रतिबोध्य ताभ्यां
मातुर्गिरा दधिथ मानुषबालवेषम् ॥ ३८७॥

Thy mother, with tears of joy wetting her slender, creeper-like form, praised Thee. Thou, who art the abode of mercy, revealed to them (Thy parents), their previous two births, in which they had sung Thy praises; accepting Thy mother’s prayer, Thou had taken the form of a human child.

त्वत्प्रेरिस्ततदनु नन्दतनूजया ते
व्यत्यासमारचयितुं स हि शूरसूनुः ।
त्वां हस्तयोरधृत चित्ताविधार्यमार्यै
रम्भोरुहस्थकलहंसकिशोररम्यम् ॥ ३८८॥

त्वत्प्रेरिस्ततदनु नन्दतनूजया ते
व्यत्यासमारचयितुं स हि शूरसूनुः ।
त्वां हस्तयोरधृत चित्ताविधार्यमार्यै
रम्भोरुहस्थकलहंसकिशोररम्यम् ॥ ३८८॥

Then impelled by Thee, Vasudeva, got ready to exchange Thee with the daughter of Nanda. Thou, who art conceivable only in the minds of revered sages, and Thou, who art pleasing like the young swan seated in a lotus, wert lifted by Vasudeva, in his hands.

जाता तदा पुशुपसद्मनि योगनिद्रा
निद्राविमुद्रितमथाकृत पौरलोकम् ।
त्वत्प्रेरणात्किमिह चित्रमचेतनैर्यद्
द्वारैः स्वयं व्यघटि सङ्गटितैस्सुगाढम् ॥ ३८९॥

जाता तदा पुशुपसद्मनि योगनिद्रा
निद्राविमुद्रितमथाकृत पौरलोकम् ।
त्वत्प्रेरणात्किमिह चित्रमचेतनैर्यद्
द्वारैः स्वयं व्यघटि सङ्गटितैस्सुगाढम् ॥ ३८९॥

At that time, Thy Maya, Yoganidra, who had been born in the cowherd, Nanda’s house, put all the city dwellers to sleep, through her yogic powers, activated by Thee. But what is more amazing is that the firmly locked inanimate (prison) doors opened of their own accord.

शेषेण भूरिफणवारितवारिणाऽथ
स्वैरं प्रदर्शितपथो मणिदीपितेन ।
त्वां धारयन् स खलु धन्यतमः प्रतस्थे
सोऽयं त्वमीश मम नाशय रोगवेगान् ॥ ३८१०॥

शेषेण भूरिफणवारितवारिणाऽथ
स्वैरं प्रदर्शितपथो मणिदीपितेन ।
त्वां धारयन् स खलु धन्यतमः प्रतस्थे
सोऽयं त्वमीश मम नाशय रोगवेगान् ॥ ३८१०॥

Then the most blessed, Vasudeva, set out, with his path lighted by the shining crest jewels of the serpent Sesha, who with his hoods held above Vasudeva’s head, shielded him from the rain. Oh Lord of such great deeds ! May Thou destroy the severity of my ailments.
