Dog

Around 1978, a cat virus (feline parvovirus) jumped to dogs. Over the year or two, canine parvovirus spread worldwide, infecting essentially every dog in the world. In puppies, over 70% lethal when untreated, more like 50% lethal in untreated adult dogs.

Nothing like this could ever happen in humans. It would be wrong.
