bhaTTa-bhAskarakaNTha of kAshmIra 1200-1600CE

कुत्रापि काले सामर्थ्य भूमेर् आसीद विशेषतः ।
विना बीजं समुत्पादे वृक्षाणां बीजधारिणाम् ॥
At some former time, the Earth had the special capacity to produce, without seeds, plants that then [reproduced] by bearing [specific] seeds.

भूमि बीजं तद् एका स्यात् सर्ववृक्ष-समुद्भवे ।
नवीनं बीजम् अस्यास् तु सारो भागस् तरौ स्थितः ॥
Thus, [one may infer) that the Earth is the sole seed from which all plants originated. and] that the newly (emerged] seeds in the original plants were the essence for that original reproductive capacity of the Earth] and remain so.

तिर्यञ्चः पक्षिणो ऽप्य् एव वृक्षाद्याः पर्वतास् तथा ।
देश-काल-वशेनैव भूतेभ्यो ऽत्र समुत्थिताः ॥
Mammals, birds, and also the plants and mountains have verily originated here from the elements by the effect of the environment and the passage of time.
