परान्न-वर्जनादि

अभिषेकोऽथ विन … ।
तर्पणं दीपनं गुप्तिः संस्काराः कुलनायक

Ten purificatory rituals of Mantra: O My Beloved! Ten processes for the eradication of the defects of mantras have been described : Janana ( giving birth ), Jivana ( giving life), then Tadana ( striking ), Bodhana ( making aware ), Abhiseka (consecration ), Vimalīkarana ( cleansing of impurity ), Āpyāyana (satisfying ), Tarpana ( libation ), Dipana ( lighting ), and Gupti (covering in protection ). These are, O Kulanāyike, the purificatory rituals.

शाणोल्लीढानि शस्त्राणि
यथा स्युर् निशितानि वै ।
मन्त्राश्च स्फूर्त्तिम् आयान्ति
संस्कारैर् दशभिस् तथा ।। ७३ ।।

Just as weapons rubbed on the whetstone get sharpened, so the Mantras subjected to these ten processes acquire potentiality.

भक्ष्यं हविष्यं शाकादि
विहितानि फलान्यपि । मूलं शक्तु यवानाश्च
शस्तान्य् एतानि मन्त्रिणाम् ।। ७४ ।।

Rules regarding Food, etc. during the period of Puracarana : The Mantra-sadhakas should eat only the prescried vegetables, fruits, roots, barley and offerings.

यस्यान्न-पान-पुष्टाङ्गः
कुरुते धर्म-सञ्चयम् । अन्न-दातुः फलं चार्द्धं
कर्त्तुश् चार्द्धं न संशयः ।। ७५ ।।

If a Sadhaka nourishes his body by obtaining food and drinks from another person then half of the merit acquired by I m goes to the donor of the food-material. There is no doubt abou it.

तस्मात् सर्वप्रयत्नेन
परान्नं वर्जयेत् सुधीः। पुरश्चरण-काले च
काम्यकर्मस्वपीश्वरि ।। ७६ ।।

Therefore, an intelligent person should, with all et orts, avoid another’s food during the period of performance of th ritual for desired results.

जिहा दग्धा परान्नेन
करौ दग्धौ प्रतिग्रहात् । मनो दग्धं परस्त्रीभिः
कार्यसिद्धिः कथं भवेत् ।। ७७ ।।

For it is said that the tongue is burnt by the food of anot! r; hand burnt by accepting from another, the mind burnt by the thight of another woman; how then there can be success in the endevour?
