सदास्वादरोमन्थः
Dear reader,
Welcome to our fourth review! As always, we’re very grateful for your continued patronage and feedback. The eagle-eyedŚatāvadhāni Dr. R. Ganesh noticed an error in edition #16, the one on Kirātārjunīya, where we had written that the Pandavas were exiled for 14 years; the Pandavas exile was actually for 12 years, it was Rama who was exiled for 14.
Also in the ‘Thought for the day’ in the same edition, we’d written “śvaśura-gṛha-nivāsaṃ”.nivāsa (house) is masculine, not neuter; it ought to read “śvaśura-gṛha-nivāsaḥ”. Our sincere thanks to Dr. Ganesh for lavishing on our humble enterprise such keen attention!
As always, we welcome any thoughts, feedback and suggestion from you all. Please email us atkvm….@gmail.comandshree…@gmail.com
Thought for today
We’ve all had bad days, but an unknown Sanskrit poet must have been really angry to think up thisśārdūlāvikrīdita conversation:
“कस्त्वं भो?” “ऽस्मि खलेश्वरः” “किमिह ते घोरेवने स्थीयते?”
“शार्दूलादिभिरेव हिंस्रपशुभिः खाद्योऽहमित्याशया” ।
“कस्मात् कष्टमिदं त्वया व्यवसितं?” “मद्देहमांसाशिताः
प्रत्युत्पन्ननृमांसभक्षणरुचःते घ्नन्तु सर्वान् नरान्!” ॥
“kas tvaṃ bho?” " ‘smi khaleśvaraḥ" “kim iha te ghore vane sthīyate?”
“śārdūlādibhir eva hiṃsra-paśubhiḥ khādyo’ham ity āśayā” |
“kasmāt kaṣṭam idaṃ tvayā vyavasitaṃ?” “mad-deha-māṃsāśitāḥ
pratyutpanna-nṛmāṃsa-bhakṣaṇa-rucaḥte ghnantu sarvān narān!” ||
“Who are you, sir?” “I’m the Lord of the villains” “Why are you sitting here in this dense forest?”
“I want to be eaten by tigers and other wild carnivores.”
“Why are you doing this to yourself?” “So that after having eaten me,
they develop a taste for human flesh and kill all humans!”
