The incantations of the 9 kAtyAyanI-s are preserved in a Mongol variant of the bhUtadAmara text. With a minimal patina, these seem to have been absorbed from a shaiva text. The Skt text mentions 8 kAtyAyanI-s, but the text gives 9: “aShTau bhUta-rAj~nI-kAtyAyanI-vidyAH paThita-mAtreNa sidhyanti ||”
The sumbhakAtyAyanI is probably a bauddha insert into the original set of the remaining 8. The rite is prescribed thus: The sAdhaka goes to a cemetery and repeats one of the kAtyAyanI mantra 1008 times for three days. He offers them blood arghya in a calvaria when they manifest.
१. ॐ त्रुं हूं हूं फट् फट् सुरकात्यायनी स्वाहा ॥
२. ॐ भू ज्वल हूं फट् महाकात्यायनी स्वाहा ॥
३. ॐ ह्रीः ह्रीः हूं हूं हे हे फट् फट् रौद्रकात्यायनी स्वाहा ॥
४. ॐ रुद्रभयंकरि अट्टाट्टहासिनि साधक-प्रिये महा-विचित्र-रूपे रत्नाकरि सुवर्ण-हस्ते यम-निकृन्तनि सर्व-दुःख-प्रशमनि ॐ ॐ ॐ ॐ हूं हूं हूं हूं शीघ्रं सिद्धिं मे प्रयच्छ ह्रीः जः चण्ड-कात्यायनी महाभूतेश्वरी स्वाहा ॥
५. ॐ यम-निकृन्तनि अकाल-मृत्यु-निवारणि खड्ग-शूल-हस्ते शीघ्रं सिद्धिं ददाहि साधक आज्ञापयति ह्रीः रुद्रकात्यायनी स्वाहा ॥
६. ॐ हेम-कुण्डलिनि धक धक ज्वल ज्वल दिव्य-कुण्डल-भूषिते रावण-मथनि भगवान् आज्ञापयति कुण्डलकात्यायनी स्वाहा ॥
७. ॐ भृ-कुटि-मुखि कह कह धाव धाव ज्वल ज्वल हुताशन-मुखि आगच्छ आगच्छ वेतालोत्थापनि आविश आविश हूं हूं हूं फट् फट् फट् भगवान् आज्ञापयति ह्रीः जयमुखकात्यायनी स्वाहा ॥
८. ॐ पितृमथनि कह कह जय जय सर्वा-सुर-पूजिते हूं जः सुम्भकात्यायनी स्वाहा ॥
९. ॐ सुरतप्रिये दिव्यलोचने कामेश्वरि जगन्मोहनि सुभगे काञ्चन-माला-विभूषणि नूपुर-शब्देन आविश आविश पूर पूर साधक-प्रिये ह्रीः शुभकात्यायनी स्वाहा ॥
