In the RV agastya maitrAvaruNi has a sUkta with spells against various venom-bearing animals. Interestingly, a memory of this is found in tAthAgatan mantra literature in an incantation that goes thus:

नमो भगवते शाक्यमुनये तथागताय ।
नमो अगस्त्याय महर्षये ।

तद्यथा ।
कृमि । चूरि । चमेलि । वर वर । हे विल । बन्धनि नाशनि ।
दह दह ।
सुमुरि । चरि ।
सर्वदुष्टबन्धने तुण्डबन्धनि सर्वसरणि ।
क्ष क्ष क्ष । मणि ।
क्षरिषि वसरि ।
फुलि फुटि फुटि समरिटि ।
सरन्तु सर्वपापप्राणजाः ।
क्षधिलि स्वाहा ।

This incantation is said to bind the proboscis of various poison holders, crop pests etc:

सर्व-प्राणक-जातीनां दुष्ट-प्रदुष्टानां विष-धारिणां
सस्य-पुष्प-फल-पत्र-गण्डमूलक-विनाशकानां
तुण्ड-बन्धं करिष्यामि ।
