आगमे विश्वासटिप्पन्यः

अनपेक्षत्वमेवैकं प्रामाण्यस्य निबन्धनम् ।
तदेव हि विनाश्येत सापेक्षत्वे समाश्रिते ॥ २८१४ ॥

anapekṣatvamevaikaṃ prāmāṇyasya nibandhanam |
tadeva hi vināśyeta sāpekṣatve samāśrite || 2814 ||

“‘Independence’ (self-sufficiency) is the only basis for ‘validity if ‘dependence’ were admitted, then the ‘validity’ itself would be destroyed.”—(2814)

Kamalaśīla

‘Basis of validity’—i.e. of the very idea of ‘validity ‘Tadeva’—Validity itself.—Because on the cessation of the more extensive character, the less extensive one cannot continue.—(2814)
