कार्यकारणभूताभ्यां वस्तुभ्यामन्य एव न ।
कार्यकारणतायोगस्ते एव तु तथोदिते ॥ २६२४ ॥

kāryakāraṇabhūtābhyāṃ vastubhyāmanya eva na |
kāryakāraṇatāyogaste eva tu tathodite || 2624 ||

The relation of cause and effect is not anything different from the things that are the cause and the effect; it is these things themselves that are spoken of as such.—(2624)

Kamalaśīla

Says the Opponent—“If, as has been said, there is no real relationship between the Object and the Word,—then how does the said caudal relationship come about?”

Answer:—[see verse 2624 above]:

The Cause and the Effect’—i.e. the two things of which one is the Cause and another the Effect.
