0888 Verse 1227

नन्वन्यापोहवाच्यत्वाज्जातिशब्दस्तु केवलः ।
विवक्षापरतन्त्रत्वाद्विवक्षाशब्द एव वा ॥ १२२७ ॥

nanvanyāpohavācyatvājjātiśabdastu kevalaḥ |
vivakṣāparatantratvādvivakṣāśabda eva vā || 1227 ||

“Inasmuch as the ‘exclusion (Apoha) of others’ is the only denotation of words, all words should be ‘common’ only. or, inasmuch as they are dependent upon the speaker’s whim, they should all be ‘proper’ only.”—(1227)
