ज्योतिः-शास्त्रे ऽपि
युग-परिवर्त-परिमाण-द्वारेण चन्द्रादित्यादि-गति-विभागेन तिथि-नक्षत्र-ज्ञानम्
अविच्छिन्न-संप्रदाय–गणितानुमान-मूलम्।

इति कुमारील-भट्टः।

नीलकण्ठः सोमयाज्य् एतद् अनुवर्तयति ज्योतिर्मीमांसायाम् -

..गणितोन्नीतस्य प्रत्यक्षेण संवादः,
ततो निश्चितान्वयस्य परस्य गणित-लिङ्गोपदेशः
ततस् तस्याप्तोपदेशावगतान्वयस्यानुमानं संवादः,
परस्मै चोपदेश
इति सम्प्रदायाविच्छेदात् प्रामाण्यम् ॥"

प्राध्यापक-रामसुब्रह्मण्यस्य आंग्लानुवादः -

”..revision of computation on the basis of such correlation,
logical inference therefrom being transmitted as tradition,
it being again correlated & transmitted down to others- this is how tradition is continued without interruption,
and hence its continued authoritativeness."

dharma

• With regards to dharma, given its laxaNa (prosperity and victory): pratyaxa and anumAna can have decisive role in rejecting/ pruning shruti contradictions/ misinstructions.
