Seven sacred cities (tirthas) spread
throughout the Indian subcontinent
in which death is traditionally
believed to bring final liberation of the
soul (moksha). The seven cities are
Ayodhya, Mathura, Haridwar,
Benares, Kanchipuram, Ujjain, and
Dwaraka.
